A tech enthusiast on an exciting journey of transitioning into the field of Cloud/Devops Engineering. I used work as a higher education teacher but I'm now undergoing a courageous shift in career paths into a cloud engineering role. Over the past year, I have undergone training on cloud computing concepts and have also gained hands-on experience working in AWS and Azure Clouds. I have also achieved the AWS Solutions Architect Associate Certification from Amazon Web Services. My most recent project is the cloud resume challenge which I completed using AWS. This project integrates a number of AWS services (S3, Route 53, CloudFront, Certificate Manager, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB) and other resources (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, GitHub Actions) to deliver contents of a static website to the internet over secure HTTPs connection. The website also has a visitor counter whose value is stored in the DynamoDB database. This value is retrieved and updated with the help of a Lambda function whenever the DNS of the webpage is hit. The project has a CI/CD portion that utilizes GitHub Actions to push code update to the website content files and/or Lambda function whenever a change is made to the code, saving deployment time by up to 50%. Something new I've learnt and I'm currently learning is writing scripts in bash that automate repetitive tasks. Tasks such as monitoring metric utilization of a virtual machine spinning up or shutting down cloud resources. What I find most exciting about DevOps, is the constant learning requirement that comes with the practice. What makes me unique is my drive for constant improvement. I always strive make whatever I do be done better.
