Job summary

As a Technical Lead Automation Engineer PLC at Bühler Group, you will take technical responsibility for complex automation developments and guide new machines from concept to market launch.

Qualifications

• Completed degree in automation, electrical engineering, systems engineering, mechatronics, or software engineering, or equivalent technical training with further education.
• Solid experience in developing complex PLC software for machines or systems and proficient use of Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell Automation Studio.
• Experience in designing modular and reusable software architectures and strong knowledge in safety PLC programming, visualization, motion control, and drive and control technology.
• Strong understanding of modern development and testing methods, familiarity with industrial communication solutions and tools like Git and Azure DevOps; knowledge of unit tests, digital twins, structured text, or other programming languages is a plus.
• Analytical and creative working style, initiative, technical leadership skills, and very good German and English language skills.

Responsibilities

• Take technical responsibility for complex automation developments and guide new machines from concept to market launch.
• Design modular PLC software architectures and develop reusable solutions with Siemens and Rockwell.
• Implement and document new functions for control, visualization, motion control, and drive technology, integrating risk analysis results into safety software according to DIN EN ISO 13849.
• Plan and execute verification and validation of new developments using unit tests and digital twins, as well as on prototypes and test systems.
• Analyze technological requirements and test results, derive innovative solutions and continuous improvements, and collaborate closely with design, product management, project management, and other R&D departments.
