Senior Cloud Architect – AI & Modernization

Job summary

Manulife is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to lead the modernization of their application landscape towards cloud-native, AI-enabled platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and modernizing applications in cloud environments (Azure preferred)
• Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture, including containers and serverless systems
• Experience supporting application transformation beyond infrastructure migration
• Ability to work across application, platform, and data layers
• Strong communication skills to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfort working with engineering teams on system design and modernization
• Experience applying AI or automation for system analysis and architecture decisions
• Familiarity with microservices and distributed system design
• Exposure to tools like Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure-as-code frameworks
• Experience in large-scale or regulated environments

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve cloud-native architecture patterns for scalable, resilient, AI-ready applications
• Partner with engineering teams to modernize applications to PaaS, containerized, and serverless solutions
• Lead architecture reviews and guide teams in design decisions
• Identify opportunities to simplify systems and improve delivery speed
• Develop repeatable modernization approaches for teams
• Collaborate with data and platform teams for high-quality data support
• Explore automation or AI tools for modernization and architecture decision-making
