IT Networking and Infrastructure Engineer - 12 month FTC

Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking a Networking & Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month fixed term contract to support a critical cyber security and network infrastructure transformation across the UK.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting enterprise network infrastructure in a multi-site organisation
• Strong understanding of networking technologies including TCP/IP and network security
• Hands-on experience with Cisco network infrastructure
• Experience administering and configuring FortiGate firewalls
• Experience deploying secure network solutions in complex environments
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK

Responsibilities

• Travel to Hitachi Rail locations across the UK to assess and document existing network infrastructure
• Conduct network discovery and infrastructure scoping activities
• Work with the Cyber Security team to deploy and integrate security appliances
• Support implementation of network improvements identified through security assessments
• Provide technical expertise across Cisco networking and Fortinet firewall environments
• Configure and support FortiGate firewalls
• Support incident, problem and change management activities
• Maintain network security standards through patching and vulnerability remediation
• Collaborate with stakeholders and IT teams for project delivery
• Produce technical documentation and network diagrams
