Database Infrastructure Engineer 12 Month FTC

Job summary

NFU Mutual is seeking a Database Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract to provide technical ownership and maintain the stability of the Database Estate.

Qualifications

• Experienced Infrastructure / Database professional.
• Demonstrable experience in supporting, deploying and improving databases in a regulated environment.
• Working knowledge and experience of Microsoft SQL.
• Working knowledge and experience of Oracle and PostgreSQL.
• In-depth experience in database migrations and consolidation.
• Good experience of database observability and troubleshooting issues.
• Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure SQL PaaS).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical ownership of the NFUM Database Estate.
• Maintain the stability of the Database Estate.
• Provide technical advisory support for projects.
• Assist with the resolution of database-related P1, P2 and P3 incidents.
• Review and approve change requests across the NFUM database estate.
• Assess database performance and make recommendations for improvement.
• Define database guardrails and build standards.
• Act as a representative at the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
• Collaborate with external IT partners and vendors.
