Job summary

As a Cloud Engineer, you will build and evolve the infrastructure and automation that powers idealo's cloud platform. This role involves designing and managing AWS multi-account environments, building Infrastructure as Code, and developing self-service platform products. You will combine infrastructure engineering with a platform mindset to create scalable solutions with company-wide impact.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS in a multi-account environment, including Organizations, Control Tower, IAM, and Identity Center.
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code skills with Terraform and Terragrunt, including building reusable modules and managing infrastructure across environments.
  • Practical programming experience with Go, TypeScript, Node.js, or Python, including automation tooling, CLI development, Lambda functions, or cloud-native services.
  • Solid networking fundamentals, including VPC design, subnetting, DNS, CDN concepts, and cross-account connectivity patterns.
  • Strong English communication skills for effective collaboration with engineers and stakeholders.
  • Practical interest in AI-powered platform engineering and infrastructure workflows, with familiarity in agents, tool integration, context management, and workflow automation.
  • German language skills are a plus.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and GitOps tooling, such as EKS and Argo CD, is a plus.
  • Familiarity with managed data services like Kafka, PostgreSQL, MongoDB Atlas, Aurora, or DocumentDB is a plus.
  • Exposure to FinOps practices, cloud cost optimization, or security-related services such as AWS WAF, Firewall Manager, Private CA, or OIDC federation is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage the AWS multi-account environment, including account lifecycle management and governance mechanisms.
  • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Terragrunt, and AWS CDK, focusing on reusable modules and scalable platform foundations.
  • Develop and operate self-service platform products for independent cloud resource provisioning and management by engineering teams.
  • Own and evolve networking capabilities including VPC design, DNS management, IP address management, and CDN integrations.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve platform usability, reliability, and operational efficiency through reusable solutions and automation.
  • Take ownership of platform services, contribute to engineering standards, and drive long-term maintainability across the cloud landscape.
