Job summary

Jefferies is seeking a Senior Full Stack / Native Cloud Engineer at Vice President level to join their London Technology team. This role involves designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native platforms and requires strong technical expertise and leadership in full stack software engineering.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in full stack software engineering, preferably in financial services.
• Backend engineering experience with Java 8+, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Python development experience, preferably with FastAPI.
• Experience designing and building cloud-native, scalable systems.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or similar technologies.
• Understanding of API design and service integration patterns.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data platforms.
• Frontend development experience using Angular or React.
• Understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Experience deploying production-grade systems in cloud environments.
• Ability to lead technical delivery and mentor engineers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with technical teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and delivery of backend services and platform components using Java 8+ / Spring Boot and Python / FastAPI.
• Build and operate event-driven, real-time data pipelines using Kafka.
• Provide technical expertise in distributed systems and scalable platform design.
• Design and maintain Java-based APIs and microservices, including REST and GraphQL.
• Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Amazon Redshift.
• Deliver responsive user interfaces using Angular or React.
• Own solutions from design to production deployment and support.
• Champion engineering best practices in code quality and CI/CD.
• Mentor junior engineers through code and design reviews.
• Identify and propose solutions to complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Optimize systems for performance and reliability.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous delivery.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to ensure architectural consistency.
• Support production systems and ensure timely issue resolution.
